Openness and accountability are important to the Department of Energy, and we are committed to assisting individuals in accessing records in our custody and control.
The Department of Energy Privacy Policy (link) ensures that any personal information collected by the department is managed in full compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations, including

The department will uphold the principles of transparency, custodianship, and shared responsibility established in the Government Privacy Policy, as it relates to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Routine Access Policy
This policy is designed to provide persons with an opportunity to obtain certain categories of records without having to submit a formal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPOP) application. There are no costs for making a request for materials that are part of the Routine Access Policy. Requests should be directed to the address below.
Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP)
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act provides access to most records under the control of the provincial government, while protecting the privacy of individuals who do not want their personal information made public. The act strives for balance between an individual’s right to know and an individual’s right to privacy. Click here to learn more about making a FOIPOP application.
Access to / Correction of Personal Information:
FOIPOP provides individuals with the right to access personal information about themselves collected by a public body, and the right to correct that information.
